Dialogue on the UN's Comprehensive Framework for Action (CFA)

This event will take place from 17 to 18 May 2010, in Dublin (Ireland). The purpose is to bring together a broad range of stakeholders on the UN’s Comprehensive Framework for Action to discuss the framework and develop suggestions for its update.

Background

The dramatic rise of global food prices and the crisis it triggered led the UN to set up the High-Level Task Force. The primary aim of the Task Force is to promote a comprehensive response to the global food crisis.

In July 2008, the Task Force produced the Comprehensive Framework for Action (CFA). The framework aims to be a catalyst for action by providing governments and non-governmental organisations with policies and actions they can use in their response to the food crisis.

Agenda

The event will take place over two days and will be chaired by the co- hosts, Concern Worldwide, Irish Aid and the United Nations.

After an opening meeting, the first day will be spent in working groups organised around the main sections of the CFA. Each working group will be co-facilitated by a representative of the Task Force and a representative from stakeholder groups.

The second day will be devoted to bringing together the conclusions of the working groups to discuss how to formulate their findings. It will be proposed that these findings be accommodated within the framework.

Aksel Naerstad, International Coordinator of More and Better, will be attending the meeting along with other representatives from Civil Society's Organizations.
Inputs from Aksel for the revision of the CFA can be found here
