More and Better supports workshops towards the implementation of SDGs

With the formal adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, UN members have adopted “a historic decision on a comprehensive, far-reaching and people-centred set of universal and transformative Goals and targets.” Now, each UN member country is expected to develop a national plan for translating SDGs in into their respective national contexts and show the progress towards achieving the SDGs. How this progress will be measured depends on the set of global indicators for the monitoring that are expected to be adopted by the UN General Assembly in the first half of 2016. The monitoring process will be then articulated at national, regional and global levels, as well as around thematic reviews.

The More and Better Network will be supporting four workshops organized by some of the member organisations in different countries, with the aim to follow up on the SDGs process from a national/regional perspective. The workshops - that are currently being organized in Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda and India - are centred on some specific areas impacted by the SDGs and related to food and agriculture. The outcome of the workshops will be shared hopefully in a couple of months.

Meantime, we strongly encourage the members of the network to share their activities and viewpoints on SDGs thematic issues by writing to secretariat@moreandbetter.org.
